Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)

D.El.Ed. programme plays a significant role in laying the foundation for further learning and teaching through a series of supervised experiences. Since primary / elementary level is a basic level for children who enter school, teachers are required to be trained and experienced in order to handle children up to the elementary level. This programme thus includes all major aspects of education related to the theoretical part together with a practical training.

The West Bengal Board of Primary Education awards the Diploma after completion of two years. It follows the curriculum as prescribed by NCTE regulations, 2014. This also follows the guidelines of the NCFTE-2009 to accept the new challenges of school education which is enshrined in the elementary school education curriculum in West Bengal updated in accordance with the spirit of NCF-2005. Thus this D.El.Ed. programme is very effective in preparing teachers to educate students up to the elementary level. The trainee teachers are helped to develop values, independent thinking, peer relations and all other qualities so essential for an ideal teacher.
